Each Berkey® Black Filter Element is rated for 3,000 gallons over it’s life. That is equal to roughly 11,350 litres of life. The Dietitians of Canada recommends approximately 2 to 3 litres of fluid intake each day. If you used your Berkey® for drinking water alone, each Berkey® Black Element would last approximately 10 years!
Each Black Berkey® Element has an approximate maximum flow rate of 1.75 gallons (or 6.65 litres) per hour.
